  What is IPTV, and how is it different from my regular cable service?

IPTV is Internet Protocol Television. This means that instead of being delivered through traditional broadcast and cable formats, your digital television service is received through the internet.


 
  Is IPTV from Lanka TV better than my current service?

Yes! There are several reasons why IPTV from Lanka TV is better than your current set-up.

 

1. You can access the entire service from your TV and/or your PC, which gives you great flexibility.

 

2. It allows you to customise your viewing like never before. With traditional systems, you have to watch programmes when they are scheduled.  With Lanka TV, you choose content that fits your preferences and your lifestyle. Digital transmissions are ready for you whenever and wherever you want to view them.

 

3. The internet is the ultimate communication tool, so accessing media via the internet means that as well as enjoying great viewing, communities around the world can stay in touch with their friends and family.   I would really like Lanka TV – how do I go about it?

All you have to do is call our 24/7 Customer Service team, and they will be delighted to sign you up. Connection to the PC service is immediate. Your television service will begin as soon as you receive your Lanka TV set-top box.


 
  Are there complicated technical requirements?

No. All you need is a high-speed broadband connection, a television set and/or a PC. We recommend an internet connection with a minimum down load speed of at least 1.5 MB per second (1.5 Mbit/s).


 
  Is there a contract period?

No. There is no commitment or contract period. It’s a contract free service.


 
  Will Lanka TV work on my Apple Mac?

It certainly will! Please ensure that you use Firefox and have installed the Flip4Mac plugin, both of which can be downloaded for free.


 
  Does it matter who my internet service provider (ISP) is?

No. We are “carrier neutral and customer friendly”. This means that any provider is fine, as long as they deliver you a minimum internet speed of 1.5 Mbit/s. We are in contact with all the local ADSL providers, and can assure you that everyone who signs up to Lanka TV will have the necessary access.

 

Please note to check your agreement terms to be sure your monthly fee is fixed and not linked to the usage. Some ISPs are promoting un-metered unlimited usage service, but terms might have exception clauses like Fair Usage Policy, therefore please read small print to ensure that there will be no interruptions to your internet access where ISP could apply speed blockage to your account.

 

In addition, if you do not yet have a broadband connection, if you have recently moved, or are considering changing your ISP, we can help. We can even facilitate sign-up, and can sometimes offer special deals to users of Lanka TV!


 
  Is it easy to install my set-top box?

Yes! Your box is preconfigured for you to just Plug and Play, and there are very comprehensive instructions included. However, if you would prefer a Lanka TV technician to do it for you, we can offer you an in-home installation (for UK customers only) within 5 working days of your call. Simply contact our Customer Service team, and they will arrange it for you.


 
  How do I connect my TV or PC to the internet?

If you are using a PC and have a wireless card installed, you can use wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi) for Lanka TV. If you don’t, you can use a standard Ethernet cable which will have been given to you by your internet provider. If you want to use a TV, again you can use wireless (Wi-Fi) or an Ethernet cable.


 
  I’ve seen you advertise VOD – what is this?

VOD stands for Video On Demand, and it’s one of the great features of Lanka TV. Our VOD system either streams content through your set-top box, allowing you to view in real time, or downloads it to your computer, so you can watch at any time. So if you only have an hour in the evening to sit down and relax – or you simply can’t find anything to watch when you want to watch, this is for you.


 
  Can TV, Internet and phone work simultaneously?

Yes, all the services can work simultaneously without any interference. IPTV is an independent service using the same Broadband connection for the Television. .


 
  What happens if I have a problem and I want to talk to a real person?

  What is the warranty period for the Lanka TV Set Top Box?

The Lanka TV set-top box comes with a 12-month manufacturer’s guarantee against faulty workmanship. As long as it is not damaged or the software is tampered the warranty covers your investment.
